February craft goals

I have all these ideas rolling around on things I should try with my cards and scrapbook pages so this month I've decided to post my goals and check them off as I go so that I'm accountable. I need you all to hold me to these goals.
My plan is to accomplish 4 out of the 5...

1. Sew on a card. I love how all my stamp tramp sistas do this and the look it gives their cards so I must try.
2. A new stamping technique. Doesn't matter what it is but I really want to try the chalk on white ink.
3. Participate in at least one challenge other then a SSD sketch challenge. I'm leaning towards Twilight Tuesday or Mojo Monday.
4. Make a card that uses a design other then the basic A2 style. (i.e. tri-shutter, waterfall, double pocket etc.)
5. Learn to make those cool tattered paper flowers.

Sketch Tuesday at Skipping Stones

Today we have another great sketch (SSD 009) from Amy at Pickled Paper Designs. This was another sketch that made me scratch my head and pull the card apart a few times to get it the way I liked it. Thanks Amy for making me think real hard on this one. :)

Of course you know you can't leave the sketch like it is so I flipped it again. I used the Martha loopy boarder punch for the funness at the bottom and the Martha loopy corner punch to make the circle loopy as well. I love using the punch to make circles. I may have to do a tutorial on how to do this for those of you who would like to know.
I got some new embossing powder from Stampin' Up this week. Like you all didn't know, I love sparkle! So I had to use it to sparkle up my little roll a bit. First I used glossy accents on the frosting to puff it up. When that dried I wiped the raised part with Top Boss and sprinkled the new sparkly Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heated. I cut the frosting out and pop doted it onto another stamped image of the roll. And as usual, I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress inks.

And a close up of the frosting. I finished the card with some matching ribbon and a Maya Road pin.  The paper is some scraps of the Bo-Bunny Boo Crew and some Bazzil Bling I had left over from my cupcake cuties card from last week.

And to go along with my sparkle addiction I have this quote that I love. I think this is probably the reason I like all things that sparkle.
" Some girls were just born with glitter in their veins."

TGF day 2 challange

The Greeting Farm has a contest going on right now for 6 free digi stamps. The 1st one was a freebie, the other 5 you have to work for. I made a card using the 1st digi and they e-mailed me cute little Charlotte here. She absolutely screamed hippy afro hair so that's where I took this one. She's colored with water color pencils and her headband, scarf and belt are all paper pieced. I went along with the hippy theme and threw in some tie dyed paper matted in Bazzil Bling paper. I added some Prima's with some bling and a total 60's phrase of "Totally Bitchin" from MTF Twisted Sentiment set.

Cupcakes Cuties

I had yet to use the adorable Cupcake Cutie set from Skipping Stones Design so while I was playin' last night I decided it was time to break in the set. I used a past sketch and come up with this card.

I used some Bazzill Bling paper in the color Infatuation and some Bo-Bunny Boo Crew Masquerade paper. Really they match a lot better then the picture is showing. Added some glitter to the frosting and some ribbon and some bling and I got this adorable Cupcake Cutie!

I used the two step stamping technique on this set. Here is Heather's video on how to do this.

Hope you have a HULA of a good time!

My mom and 6 of her close friends are going on a cruise, leaving this Wednesday (I should call Carnival Cruise and warn them) and wanted to send her off with a cute little Bon Voyage card. What a more perfect set then the Tropical Birthday girl from Skipping Stones Design.

I reached deep into my paper crate and found this cool Hawaiian flower paper that I bought years ago. It sadly didn't have a vendor on it and I matched it with some blue card stock. I used a new embossing folder that I got from QuickKuts on the 1st blue matting. My little hula girl is colored with water color pencils and decked out with lots of bling and a cute little bow. My favorite part of this card is her hula skirt. I made it hula.

I may have been better off posting a video to show you how cute this is but you get the general idea. I very loosely put a brad into the full stamped image and cut the skirt off another stamped image and added a glue dot to the head of the brad and adhered the skirt.

I realized that sticking it directly to the matting made it no longer hula so I had to pop dot the white hula girl paper onto the blue matting to keep her a wigglin'!

Bon Voyage Mommy & Have a HULA of a good time!

Another Tuesday, another Skipping Stones sketch

I have been dying to make an easel card and finally decided to bit the bullet and just do it. This week Amy came up with my favorite of her sketches. Here's the sketch:

And surprisingly, I didn't flip the sketch. I just squished it and made it longer.

The paper is from the All Dressed Up pack from DCWV and the ribbon was some clearance Christmas ribbon from Micheal's and of course had to put a dab of bling on the card.  I used the Skipping Stones Design set that's releasing this week called Buns & Crunches. Great set with lots of fun stuff!

Here is the card setting up with the easel function.

I used some pop dots to raise the saying on the inside to give the easel someway to stay up.  I stamped everything in Tim Holtz Vintage Photo DIstressed ink and inked all the edges in Tea Dye Distressed ink.

Over the Shoulder Boulder Holder (cards)

While at a scrappin' retreat this weekend in Pierre, I decided I needed a break from my layouts and made these 2 little cards. I love the bra sets from Skipping Stones Design. All 3 sets are great, although, only the 1set has been released. You can keep checking the site for release dates of the other 2.  This is some teal and black damask halloween paper that I had picked up at Altered Art this last halloween. I don't remember who it's by. I'm so bad at remembering these things. I just know I love it! I colored the bra with watercolor pencils and added some stickles. I inked all the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I used a "perfect bow" on the front.

From here I moved onto an easel card. Also using the bra set. I used some bright pink cardstock on this and did come paper piecing of the bra.The little rosette on the bra has some stickles. I don't think I can make a card without SOME kind of bling.I used these cool black button things in the upper right corner and a Martha punch for the bottom. I inked the edges in Tattered Rose Distress Inks by Tim Holtz.

I used a sparkly brad for the holder on this easel card and accented with some black ribbon.

Blast Off to SSD Sketch Challange

Amy has done it again with a great sketch for Skipping Stones Design's Tuesday sketch.  I played with this sketch for 2 weeks before I finally came up with something that I loved. (Thanks Heather!)
Here's Amy's sketch:

And like I so often do, I flipped the sketch. Here's my card:

I used the Blast Off set of stamps, not yet released. Keep checking back to Skipping Stones for a release date. The paper is some from My Minds Eye that I bought tons of and haven't been able to bring myself to use. You all have that favorite paper that you love and can't you, admit it. I colored the image in water color pencils and matted it on maroon cardstock. I added some ribbon and buttons from Papertrey.

As a side note I just wanted to say thank you to all who participated in the Blog Hop last week. It was great fun!
